My first market!
Last weekend I got to sell my block prints at a holiday market for the first time. I was so nervous! I didn’t know anything, like how to take credit cards, or how many things to make, or the best way to show things that would look professional but not take forever to set up and break down.
Luckily my good friend Shelley is a pro vendor and helped walk me through everything step by step. At one point she told me I was going to need three times as much stuff to sell as I had made and she was right! Also to bring chapstick. Also right!.
My other good friend Bronwyn offered to help me set up and sell things for the day. I really needed her because my hands started to shake a little before the market opened because I was so nervous!
But as soon as things got underway and friendly faces started stopping by the day became nothing but fun. I met so many interesting people and loved seeing which designs people liked and why. I also loved hearing about everyone else’s creative adventures. We live in such a talented community!
By the end of the day I was so tired but so happy. I’d also like to say that if you are thinking about a first time market in Bellingham the Hillcrest Holiday Fair is a great one. Everyone was super welcoming and the organizers did a great job. I will definitely be going back again next year!
